Nervous Nausea

Q.I think I have nervous nausea. Whenever I am in certain situations it comes on. Is there a drug I can take that would keep these symptoms from happening? Once an “attack” has started, is there anything I can do to prevent the ultimate from happening?

A.First the disclaimer: I’m a clinical psychologist, which means I have a Ph.D. in clinical psychology and am trained to assess and treat psychological, emotional and behavioral disorders and the psychological, emotional and behavioral aspects of medical conditions.

(Whew! That’s a mouthful.) Because I’m not a physician, and because psychologists are not currently trained and licensed in pharmacotherapy, I don’t prescribe drugs. So I’m not the best person to ask about drugs for nausea or anxiety
